Agbaeze Gabriel Ogba is rapidly creating a niche for himself in the movie world
(NOLLYWOOD) with so many movies already to his credit.
Agbaeze
the proud son of Akanu Item, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State
played host to Estreet On Tv in his home in Aba the commercial city of Abia state
where he shared with us among other things his experiences in the music and
movie world including his forth coming Gospel Musical concert Titled: OME NMA
part 1.

meet you please?
I’m Agbaeze
Gabriel Ogba, JP. I know you don’t know that about me,I am a JP.
Wow, tell us
what does the abbreviation JP stands for?
That is Jerusalem
Pilgrimage; I have ascended the hills of Jerusalem.
Wow, he’s
been to Jerusalem, that’s the new one we are just finding out. Ok, we know you very
much to be into music I could remember way back with the group Dynamite; with the
hit song Akpoaza just tell us the journey of music how has it been like?
Yea, like
every other serious adventure it has not really been easy especially when you
have the odds working against you, to tell you the truth minus the grace of God
we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Indeed
the grace of God, ok, just tell us we know you also as an entertainer. You are
into music as well as acting, right?
Yes!
Tell us
how has it been like combing both music and acting?
You know the
saying that goes by “To whom much is
giving much is expected from”. Naturally I have this coat of many colors, and
I’m trying to balance my wears, maybe the inner wears, shoes just to balance
the colors. Acting and music; they are all in one but the thing is, if you have
the ability to discover the them. You know, you don’t just decide your destiny
you discover your destiny and when you do that you build your world around it
that’s just the secret.
That
means you’ve discovered your destiny and that’s why you’ve been able to manage
the both.
I didn’t
just discover my destiny I did it on time, infact I’m living with it as part of
my life.
I don’t
know, I have a little passion for singing maybe I can sing too, does it mean
someday I could be like you?
Yes, consider
two things, one is talent the other one is skill. They are two different
things. Talent and skill, you could be talented without skill, so if you are
talented you still need to work on your skill. Because of that if you have the
passion for singing, like everybody can sing while in the bathroom or kitchen
cooking, but what makes you a good singer is one your talent then your skill. So
if you think you have the talent then work on your skill because talent is not enough.
Wow I’ve
learnt something today. Tell us, when Akpoaza came into play, the song really
was a hit even when such hasn’t come from this part of the country before.
People really appreciated Akpoaza and I am sure it took you places. Just tell
us how was it like traveling round the world doing concerts and all that?
Wow, it was
like a dream. The truth is we did Akpoaza with 5 years, 5 years with hard
labour. At a point we were saying God even if the album did not sell but
encourage us through this work, you know God is a rewarder of those who
diligently seek him. Our prayers was that even the album did not sell make
every ear that will listen to the song confess that these guys are passionate
about you (GOD).
So when the
album came out Oh my God it was a massive hit, it was mega hit and traveling
from country to another.
There was
this particular incident that happened in Benin Republic. They were having
their independence that very year and we were invited, it was an international
show we were the only group that came from Nigeria, at a point the way they
were treating us I was like God is this me? That dirty Aba boy, not just from
Aba but from Ama nmonwu, ama nmonwu is in Ngwa road.
It was
really encouraging; the truth is if you serve God with all your heart don’t
worry about the reward he knows how to reward you.
Ok, about
the acting part of your life can you tell us may be a list of few movies you
have featured in.
I did Kings
blood, Seven points Agenda, Queen of the coast. I can’t just remember the names
they are too many, what are the names again some times when we do this movies
they have what is called working tittles and when the movies come out
eventually the tittles are changed they are too many.
Ok, the
Dynamite which you happen to be a member of, we haven’t heard from them lately
any plans?
Ok, apart
from AKPOAZA, we have we also have Amara which is very deep, you know we are not
the kind of band that releases albums every year. You see if you are a serious
song writer you don’t just release albums every year except when you are led or
inspired to do so. We have AMARA we also have IT DOESN’T MATTER albums which
the video will be coming out soon, two weeks from now we will be shooting the
videos, we also have GOD’S TIME and these are wonderful albums. We don’t just
sing, our songs are very deep because of the inspirations we have and the
encounters we have with the holy spirit who teaches us our songs, we have other
albums.
Ok, just
tell us what will your fans be expecting from you the Dynamite?
A lot, I
tell you the truth, if you really like songs that are very deep, songs that are
very meaningful, songs that you can play in season and out of season listen to
the dynamites we are messengers and the messages are still coming just whenever
you hear about Dynamite just look for their CDs, take your time don’t rush our
songs take your time, listen to those songs they must minister to you.
You have
told us so much about your group the Dynamites; now let’s get back to Agbaeze
Gabriel Ogba. Your fans are itching to know, are you married?
….General laughter
….coughs…Ok, as
at the time of this interview not yet, am still very much available but I don’t
know how is the VERY. But am still available, am still single.
That
sounds like there’s someone around the corner maybe you are not sure yet. Ok,
just clarify us with the not VERY much.
Ok, I’ve
given you 70%, I think I should keep the 30% to myself.
Ok, he
wants that private ...continuous laughter… personally as AGBAEZE GABRIEL Ogba, Now tell
us what is it that you’ve been up to lately that you think your fans need to
know about?
This
question is very timely, it is timely in the sense that Agbaeze Gabriel Ogba is
organizing a gospel music concert. It is first of it kind, I’m organizing it
for SEVEN ELEVEN Entertainment, which is also a new company that is so
determined to package events that will promote gospel music and gospel
musicians, it will unit a lot of older generation and new generation. This
gospel concert which is aimed at promoting and uniting gospel artistes, the
tittle is OME NMA and this is the part one. It will come on April 30th
2017 I tell you the truth, it’s going to
be a huge one, it’s going be wonderful music concert because I know God is
involved and his glory will be poured upon his people on that very day.
About
this concert, apart from your group the Dynamite, who are the other gospel
artistes you have invited?
We have
several other artistes that will be performing alongside the Dynamites. While
were praying about it a lot of names came up, being the maiden edition names we
chose them. Brother Collenius Benjamin will be in the show, he is a general as
far as gospel music is concerned. We have Uzochi Andrew who did Zam Jehovah Zam
a mega hit, we have Patience Ogbonna who did BUWEREM AGHA ZORO EZO. In that
album there was a drama in one particular song where she sang KA ONWUNWA
ABIARALA GI, in that drama someone called his elder brother DI OKPARA OKUKO,
ANAYO. I was actually the voice behind eeehhh bia nna ayi di okpara okuko and
all that. I know you didn’t know about that I’ve told you this one. Long Laughter… Patience Ogbonna will be
there, I know so many people have not heard from her for a while and they are
itching to see the song bird. So if you really want to see her, I know we need
to see her, you have to be there Patience Ogbonna is coming. Ofcourse the
Dynamite like I said we have Dynamite Z, he is also a warrior in the Lord he is
a fantastic gospel artiste so passionate about the things of the Lord I love
him so much , he is a youth with a burning desire to serve God. We have big
Dan, another giant, we have joel Z, we have Oma. Oma actually did a song with
the Dynamite, you’ve not heard about that don’t worry you’ll hear it that day.
We have F-SHARP. We have comedians that are very decent that wouldn’t insult
people or use vulgar words to mislead people. We have sunny messiah, WE HAVE
the weeping pastor, Bomshoko, Mc Uralph and so many other people that will be
performing to the glory of God.
Ok, that
is obviously, a heap of guest Artistes that will be attending the show. But
somehow you’ve not been told us the hit name and the venue of the concert.
The title
of the show is OME NMA part 1.You know the bible said that the Lord is Good, so
if it is not good it is not God no matter the analysis. GOD will be there
present. The venue is Lekota Spring Hotels along Ikot Ekpene Road, close to
Waterside front Ogbor-Hill, Aba. Abia State, Date is April 9th
2017.The Red Carpet starts from 12 noon and the event proper is by 2pm. I tell
you, you cannot afford to miss it, you cannot.
Wow, so we
are expecting OME NMA part 1 on the 9th of April I hope you all make
it a date to be with Agbaeze Gabriel at least you will be meeting him in
person. Now about the show, is it going to be free or are we expected to pick
up tickets at the venue?
Ok, I want
to correct an impression; people have this impression that you are not suppose pay
to attending gospel shows it should be free. The truth is nothing is free on
earth, if you are going for an event which is a gospel event and you didn’t pay
it means someone else has paid for you and the truth remains that whatever eats
grows, so we need to encourage the gospel artistes as well because they are not
here to pollute the our air or mislead the people so there will be ticket at N500
and N2,000 for VIP, it’s important.
We’ve heard it from the
horses’ mouth that N500 for regular and N2,000 for VIP please remember to keep
a date with Agbaeze Gabriel on April 9th. But just before we go, tell us, is
there any other thing you do apart from Music and Acting?
Yea, I do a
lot of other things but I still do them in my mind, in my head and in my heart
so it’s just a matter of time they will all be unveiled but I tell you I’m
loaded, I’m well loaded…general laughter.
He is
loaded, well loaded I can’t wait for him to explode…continuous
laughter…
Ok, what
is your final word to your fans?
If it has
not frustrated you then it is not your talent, because your talent must in one
time or the other frustrate you, but the only thing that will convince you that
it is your talent is when you want to give, up something will still draw you
back to it. So I think I have said enough.
Wow, thank
