I’ll bring home the Grammy-King
Bryn
The city of Owerri, the capital of the Eastern heartland stood
still as one of the futures of the
Nigerian music Nwogu Alexander .C (a.k.a) King Bryne performs at the Extended
play (EP) listening party of his album.
King Bryne an embodiment of
talent and energy combined proofed to be a promising redefinition of the
Nigerian music with a 7 track EP cutting across different genres of music. This
graduate of Mathematics from the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka is
sure ready to hit Nigeria and Africa at large with his brand of art.
At the event were the industry key players
like the OAPs, DJs, Media, Social media influencers and Potential investors.
Estreet On Tv had a chat
with this excited bundle of talent after the show and we’re here to bring it to
you. Enjoy.
Can you tell us about
yourself?
My name is King Bryne, I am an Afrobeat art. I
mix it with a lot of genre, I do Reggae, Afro trap and I also do Highlife.
What inspires your music?
My music actually is inspired
by people around me, especially love, hatred, happiness and everything that
surrounds life. So I talk about everything.
You just had your extended
play(EP) can you tell about that?
Yea, it was ok, the turn up
was massive. The EP is an embodiment of work with the infusion of different genres.
I was able to fumble with Afrobeat, Reggae and a lot of things. I also
collaborated with an American DJ: Young
Tripp who is working with Empire Music world wide. Am glad the EP was a success, the major
reason we had Extended Play (EP) listening party was to introduce the music to
the general public and that was a success.
We had massive turn up of key players in the industry within the
southeast. At the EP listening party we had OAPs, DJs, social media
influencers, different Radio and Televisions coming around and that was exactly
what we wanted and we got it.
Who are the people that made
the EP a success?
Yea, production wise I
worked with Young Tripp who is based in Los Angeles, California. I also
worked with one of the biggest producers here in Nigeria and that happens to be
wise
Dom who has been involved with a lot of big arts recently and I also
worked with Fairflexy one of the best producers from here in the south
east. Am not forgetting Kizzycleff who was also there at Liquid
mix, am glad I was able to work with them and most of my songs were
mixed and mastered by Enzy on the Mix and planet
Mix. I kept a small circle but they were all professionals.
How many tracks are the in
the EP?
It has 7 tracks on my Extended Play List.
Simply put, you are rising.
Yea!
So how do you feel?
I feel okay, I feel good and everybody will
feel okay to have an improvement, as I see it as an improvement and am looking
forward to working on an album in time to come, not too long from now.
In the Nigerian music scene who
do you see as your role model?
I go with 2face
Idibia(2Baba) because 2baba is an Embodiment of everything, he is one artiste
than can do all genres of music and he has proven it. He has worked with
Reggae, Highlife, Afrobeat, Hipop, Afro trap and he’s really good so me being that
kind of person that can fondle with a lot of genre will want to have a role
model who is already replicating the same feat, so I go with 2Baba. I always
listen to his works they are creative they are very matured, he always passes a
message that’s what I love doing because when you do a song that doesn’t have a
story line, no message I don’t think you are a musician because as a musician
you have to communicate and when you don’t do that you’re just making noise and
noise is different from music.
Still on the Nigerian music
scene, who are the artistes you are looking forward to collaborating with?
Yea, like I said, I’d really
love 2Baba’s works so I would really love to, wish and hopefully work with
2Baba anytime soon. I also like Burna Boy, I like the way he flexes with music
Burna Boy is able to own different characters. Let me explain myself more Burna
Boy sings, he raps, and he takes solo. He’s just the kind of a person you’ll
bring into any kind of song and he delivers so I would like to work with Burna
Boy, and for the street credibility I’ll also like to work with Naira Marley
because he has this flame, he carries the street along with this power of
speaking his mind regardless of what people are going to say about it, so these
few people if I work with them I’ll feel fulfilled.
Burna Boy was recently nominated for the
Grammy Awards, what do you think about it?
Yea, Burna boy is doing very
well for himself as well as for the Nigerian music, he got nominated for the
Grammy is a plus for the Nigerian music
industry as a whole, but we’re feeling bad he couldn’t bring it back here to
Nigeria hopefully someday I get to be nominated and bring home the Grammy.
You just had your Extended Play (EP), what
is the next line of action for you?
Basically, after this EP
we’ll be running lots of promotions on the album and the songs in the album. We
also have various programs and concerts lined up in regard to it. Definitely
we’re going to be busy from now.
Meanwhile we have a
collaboration EP with an American DJ Young Tripp coming up and it will be
ready and out anytime soon.
Outside music in Nigeria who
else do you really look up to?
Outside music in Nigeria I
really look up to Ayo Makun (AY), he’s not just a comedian he has this ability
to host events, not just any how events but one of the biggest comedy events in
Nigeria and Africa at large. He is also into movie making. His movies has come
out to be the highest sold movies in Nigeria and Africa as well, so am really a
big fan of him basically because he has an atom of King Bryne in him being
versatile doing a lot of things at the same time and that’s exactly what
defines me.
Where do we see king Bryne
in the next 5 years?
In five years from now King
Bryne would’ve turned international art, King Bryne would’ve
brought home the Grammy and King Bryne would’ve been celebrated
worldwide.
Outside music what else do
you do?
Outside music I love to
style peoples’ hair and I also love to write, as a matter of fact all my songs
were written by me. These are the things I love doing.
Who are the people you would
want to appreciate for making the EP listening party a success?
Actually I have few persons
to appreciate. I want to say a big thanks to my manager Emeagwara Chibuzor (Mc Christalker)
he was there for me he also managed the event and made it a success, I want to
thank the in-house Dj of Posh and Candy for giving us steady
sound, I also want to thank the management of Posh and Candy their
hospitality, I can’t forget my mum she’s always been my back bone from day one
I really love her and I love the way she supports me too. With this opportunity
I want to say big thank you to the OAPs and MCs, DJ Sako, Esure,
Mc
Duke, Amara Dazzol, Obinna am not forgetting the Beat
Saint and Wisedom I can’t actually remember you all, especially Estreet
On Tv, they were there to gave us solid media partnership. Wow wow, a
big shout out to my fellow artistes that came to support and performed like Queen
Dollar all the way from Onitsha am very glad you came, to Favour
B, Catty Boy and MG I am very grateful to everyone
that made the EP listening a huge success, thank you very much.
